Dr. Andrea Bublitz holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration from the University of Zurich. She is currently a postdoc at the Chair of Marketing and Market Research of the University of Zurich and Visiting Researcher at Columbia Business School. Following her dissertation entitled “The miscalibration of online news knowledge: Why consumers feel better informed than they objectively are“, she is currently exploring how rather than showing personalized news feeds incidentally exposing consumers to contradicting views and opinions has the potential to lower affective polarization by increasing the processing fluency of other ideas. In another project, she further uncovers the mere sharing effect and shows why consumers perceive news to be more truthful after sharing it with their social network.

Seminar description: In this two-week seminar (3 ECTS) students will learn about different research designs, the internal and external validity of experiments, evidence for psychological processes in experiments, and experimental replications. Students will also apply their new knowledge by reading and discussing current experimental literature in consumer research.

The seminar will take place from June 26th until July 7th, 2023, daily from 9:00 – 16:00 in AND 4.57 (Campus Zurich Oerlikon). More information is available in the course catalog.
